River Trent, Radcliffe Viaducts, pegs 1 – 48 (Frank Richmond Trophy)
- Gary Pilsworth 26lb 13oz
- Mike Atherton 17lb 10oz
- Graham Skinner (visitor) 15lb 10oz
Match 8 in the RoTAS calendar was one of our annual trips to the mighty River Trent. These days, matches on the river are normally not that popular but, with 25 anglers turning up, we had to double the stretch we had booked!
The weather was set fine and bright and, with the Trent running slow and low, it wasn’t looking that good for river fishing. But Gary obviously hadn’t read the rule book as he smashed it with 26lb 13oz of mainly good sized roach, caught on hemp for the win from peg 3. Mike Atherton had drawn peg 34 in the ‘poor’ section but still caught 17lb 10oz on the stick float for second place. In third place on the day was guest angler Graham Skinner, with a good net from peg 43. That meant that Nic Wort completed the RoTAS frame, taking 11lb 14oz from peg 20.
As we approach half way into the Summer League campaign Nic Wort is still at the top with a comfortable lead. He looks set for the title, or is he?!
Colin Elliott won Section 1 with two good sized bream for 9lb 11oz from peg 12, and Mark Baker won Section 2 from peg 45 with 10lb 12oz. In the KO Cup Mark also beat Ray Walker, which puts him into the semi-final of the competition.
