Joe Marston Shield for RoTAS members
- Craig Foulds 1lb 8oz
- Bernard Robinson 12oz
- Dave Burton 11oz
This was the annual Lamcote Cup match involving a number of local clubs, which RoTAS won last year when it was held on the Trent. So the pressure was on to retain this prestigious trophy!
On a scorching hot day with temperatures into the 30’s, and with tench spawning in the gin clear water, this was always going to be a very hard match.
A Barnstone member won the match overall with a 40lb net of bream from peg 50, but all other weights were well under 6lb.
Radcliffe ran our own match for the 8 members who were fishing within the inter-club event, which gave new member Craig Foulds his first win. He had drawn an end peg and managed to winkle out 1lb 8oz of bits in the early part of the match, mugging small perch with worm.
Bernard Robinson drew the golden peg and was looking to have a great pay-day if he could only manage to snare one of the tench or bream that were scurrying up and down the canal all day! But alas, he had to settle for second with just 12oz of bits. Dave Burton completed the RoTAS frame, catching all his fish in the first 15 minutes of the match, mugging perch on worm for third place – just an ounce behind Bernard.
Jansons Match Lake is our next stop; should catch a few more fish there??!
