Big Lake – both banks (President’s Shield)
- Chris Smith 52lb 4oz
- Barry Stokes 38lb 3oz
- Richard Nickels 37lb 2oz
A northerly wind made the fishing difficult, with a cold overcast morning greeting the excellent turn-out of 27 anglers – although it did brighten up in the afternoon.
New member Chris Smith won on his debut after drawing favoured peg 13, even though he only caught two skimmers in the first 3 ½ hours of the match. When when he saw fish rolling in front of him he wasted no time in switching from the method feeder to the pellet waggler to accumulate a winning weight of just over 52lb. Barry Stokes drew end peg 36 down wind and bagged up on 31lb of skimmers and one carp for his second place, also seeing off Mick McCloughlin in the knock out cup.
Rich Nickels was on peg 18 and completed the frame, falling just 1lb short of Barry’s weight.
Also well done to Charlotte Baker who is continuing her good run of matches, not only beating Dave Burton in the KO Cup but more importantly extending her lead to 17 points over husband Mark Baker. Who could be the dark horse for this year’s title?!
