It was Bottesford’s turn to host the Lamcote Cup and they chose to have it on their stretch of the Grantham Canal. A total of 14 teams entered the match, made up from: RoTAS, Bottesford, Barnstone and Long Eaton Fed. The canal fished hard overall, with gin clear water and weed testing the anglers skills.
On the day, Bottesford Green won with 8 points, 2nd place went to Bottesford Old Gits with 25 points and then RoTAS Black were 3rd with 28 points. This was a great result for RoTAS and a big well done to all the team!
Mark drew peg 8 opposite the pub. The tench didn’t want to play, so he targeted the rudd and roach. The addition of a little groundbait seemed to help bring in a couple of better roach, approx. 12 oz each. Barry Stokes was the next highest placed Radcliffe angler, catching over 80 small rudd from peg 103. This weight also saw Barry knock Bernard Robinson out of the KO Cup. Craig Welbourne was also in the KO against Dez Phillips. Craig caught a small tench from peg 51 plus some bits, whereas Dez packed up early and went home!
RoTAS will host next year’s Lamcote Cup and this will see them take the opposition to Radcliffe Viaducts.
